Atletico move to the summit

Atletico Mineiro moved a point clear at the Campeonato summit on Sunday night with a 2-0 home win over Portuguesa.

Marcos Rocha set Atletico on their way with the opener after 24 minutes and Leonardo Silva added a second goal seven minutes into the second half.

Fluminense finished the weekend in second place after defeating Flamengo 1-0 thanks to Fred's early strike.

Vasco da Gama slipped to third spot, two points off the pace, after being held to a 1-1 draw at Figueirense. The visitors had looked on course for all three points when Diego Souza gave them the lead midway through the first half, but substitute Roni had other ideas and salvaged a draw for the hosts with a 74th-minute equaliser.

Sao Paulo climbed to fourth with a 3-1 success against Coritiba. Jadson and Maicon put the home team two up before half-time and, although Michael Robson's 71st-minute penalty gave the visitors hope, Osvaldo put the result beyond doubt with a third goal 10 minutes from time.

Santos moved up to 14th following their 4-2 triumph over Gremio. First-half goals from Edu Dracena and Felipe Anderson put the hosts in control, with Neymar adding a third just after the hour and then Fernando's own goal stretching their lead before the visitors grabbed late consolations through Vilson and Marquinhos.

Marquinhos' stoppage-time equaliser earned 10-man Sport Recife a 1-1 draw at home to second-bottom Corinthians, Liedson having given the Copa Libertadores winners the lead shortly before Felipe Azevedo's dismissal.

Finally, Ricardinho netted the game's only goal as Ponte Preta edged third-bottom Palmeiras 1-0.
