Keita quits Barcelona

Barcelona have confirmed that Seydou Keita has decided to leave the Nou Camp, with the midfielder expected to join Chinese side Dalian Aerbin.

• Keita heading to China - report

Mali international Keita is free to leave Barca having started under 50% of their games last season.

"Seydou Keita announced tonight that he will not continue at the club next season," Barca said in a statement.

"Barcelona would like to thank Seydou Keita for his role at the club in the last years and wish him new professional and personal successes in the future."

Keita is expected to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal with newly-promoted Dalian Aerbin and will join a procession of African stars heading to the Far East, with Didier Drogba, Yakubu and Freddie Kanoute among the recent imports.

The 32-year-old had been linked with a switch to Liverpool, but is quoted as telling reporters: "I won't be going to Anfield."
