Wolves loan out Sissoko

Wolfsburg are to loan right-back Ibrahim Sissoko to Panathinaikos for next season after he found first-team opportunities hard to come by in the Bundesliga.

Sissoko, 20, was signed by Wolfsburg in January from Academica de Coimbra and, although he was unable to make the breakthrough last season, playing just twice, the Wolves are keen to keep hold of him for the future.

"Ibrahim Sissoko should gain some match practice at a top club,'' said Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath.

"Jesualdo Ferreira's side finished runners-up last season and if he is able to make the breakthrough into this side, then this is the right step for him to take now. In the mid-term, he should strengthen our team.''

Sissoko has initially joined the Greek club for one year but that deal could be extended by a further 12 months.
