Zanetti hopes Inter strengthen

Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti is hopeful the club can sign Matias Silvestre and Mattia Destro this summer.

• Inter to sign Silvestre
• Lucio leaves Inter Milan

Inter are reported to be close to tying up a deal to sign Palermo centre-back Silvestre, while they have also been linked with Siena striker Destro, who is co-owned by Genoa.

"Destro and Silvestre are two players worthy of wearing the Inter colours," Zanetti told Corriere dello Sport. "They would strengthen our side."

Inter have endured a period of instability since Jose Mourinho's departure to Real Madrid in 2010, but the ship appears to have steadied following the appointment of Andrea Stramaccioni.

Nonetheless, Zanetti accepts that Juventus and AC Milan, last season's top two in Serie A, are better placed for success.

"There are some better equipped sides than us when it comes to fighting for the championship," he said. "We must just concentrate on preparing ourselves as best we can and in a humble manner.

"Juventus will be the side to beat, also because they have made a few important signings to add to an already good side. Milan also still have some world-class players."
