Inzaghi considering A-League move

Former AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi is a target for new A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers and would happily consider a move to Australia, according to his representative.

Inzaghi, 38, was recently released by Milan after more than a decade of service with the Rossoneri but is keen to continue playing rather than head for retirement.

The veteran forward, who is both Milan and Italy's all-time leading scorer in European competition, is believed to be on the radar of clubs in the Middle East and MLS but a move to the A-League could also be possible.

And with newly formed franchise Western Sydney Wanderers on the lookout for their first marquee player, Inzaghi's Australian agent Lou Nesci feels his client would be a perfect option.

"Filippo is certainly keen to come to Australia and the Wanderers would seem to be a good fit, especially with a sizeable Italian community in that part of Sydney," Nesci told The World Game.

"I feel he would excite people. He's still scoring goals and still fit to play at a very high level despite his age.

"I feel he would give Wanderers extra appeal in terms of putting bums on seats," Nesci said.

"I realise some clubs might worry about his age after previous bad experiences with imports but I feel they should have no concerns on that score on this occasion. He has a curiosity to come to Australia and perform."

Wanderers will be coached by former Australia centre-back Tony Popovic for their inaugural season in the A-League.
