Reports in China suggest that Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita is set to join Dalian Aerbin, where he will join up with another former Blaugranas player, Fabio Rochemback.
Keita, 32, is free to leave Barca having started under 50% of their games last season and he is believed to have already refused a move to Premier League side Liverpool.
Chinese news agency Sina reports that he is already in Dalian, with a deal to possibly be completed on Saturday.
Dalian Aerbin chairman Li Ming had earlier said he was 'unclear' on reports, but notably refused to deny that a deal was underway.
"I was also unclear where this news was from, it was only a bit later that I found out," Li Ming told sports website Hupu. "We only need a foreign signing from Asia and I am putting all my effort into this matter. However, I have also heard about this.
"Whether there is someone else working on this, I don't know. At this end, there is no news of this kind."
Should Keita join the Chinese club, he would join a procession of African stars heading to the Far East this month, with Didier Drogba, Yakubu and Freddie Kanoute among the recent imports.
