Russia keen on Capello - report

Former England boss Fabio Capello is in negotiations to become the new coach of the Russia national team, according to news agency Interfax.

Capello, 66, has been out of work since resigning from his role with the Three Lions after a dispute with the FA over John Terry's captaincy.

It is thought the Italian favours another national team job and with Dick Advocaat leaving Russia to take charge of PSV, Capello has emerged as a prime candidate to replace him.

The former AC Milan and Juventus manager, who was strongly linked with a move to Anzhi Makhachkala last year, is reportedly the first choice of Russian Football Union (RFU).

Russia, who surprisingly exited Euro 2012 at the group stage, received a favourable qualifying draw for World Cup 2014: Portugal, Israel, Northern Ireland, Azerbaijan and Luxembourg will play alongside them in Group F.
