Seedorf to make decision by Monday

Former AC Milan and Real Madrid midfielder Clarence Seedorf is close to announcing a decision on his future, says his agent, with Rio de Janeiro side Botafogo favourites for his signature.

Seedorf, 36, is thought to be close to signing with the Brazilian club, despite rumoured interest from China, and over the past week LA Galaxy have emerged as a viable alternative.

The former Netherlands international has been in Los Angeles to train with the MLS side over the past couple of weeks and there is now a chance that they will offer Seedorf an alternative proposal.

"Seedorf is very close to making his decision," his agent, Deborah Martin, told Lancenet. "In fact, he has been doing this every day and his decision will be made soon - by Monday at the latest. I can say he is enjoying the time he's been spending in California. He has been enjoying training at LA Galaxy. But I can't say if that has anything to do with his future career decision."

Botafogo's pursuit of Seedorf has been long-standing - since before the Dutchman officially departed the San Siro - with the creative midfielder already owning a residence in the city, owing to his Brazilian wife.
