Manchester United seal Kagawa signing

Manchester United have tied up the signing of Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund on a four-year deal, it has been confirmed.

Kagawa has joined for an undisclosed fee from the German champions after two years at Dortmund, passing a medical on Friday.

"Shinji is an exciting young midfielder with great skill, vision and a good eye for goal,'' Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said. "I am delighted he has chosen to come to United.

"I believe he will make an impact upon the team very quickly as he is suited to United's style of play. We are all looking forward to working with him.''

Kagawa won back-to-back titles with Dortmund, scoring 17 goals as well as providing 13 assists. The club also won the German Cup last season after thumping Bayern Munich in the final.

The 23-year-old is expected to join up with United for their pre-season tour to South Africa and China after it was confirmed he will not be expected to play for Japan at the Olympics.

"This is a challenge I am really looking forward to,'' said Kagawa. "The Premier League is the best league in the world and Manchester United is such a massive club. This is a really exciting time for me. I can't wait to meet the team and start playing.''

Kagawa will link up with Park Ji-sung, Manchester United's first Asian import, who has been hugely successful in his seven years at Old Trafford. United have also signed Nick Powell from Crewe in the close season as they look to increase competition for places in midfield.
