Wolves sign Nouble

Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced the signing of West Ham and England Under-19 forward Frank Nouble.

Nouble, 20, will join Wolves on a free transfer following the expiry of his West Ham contract and could be joined shortly by Icelandic striker Bjorn Bergmann Sigurdarson from Lillestrom.

Wolves manager Stale Solbakken said: "Frank is a player that our scouts have been watching. We think he has qualities that we can develop and with his physical strength and power I feel that he can help us.

"He should be a useful acquisition to the squad and it is a good opportunity for him to come to a stable club and work hard. I think this is a win-win situation for both the club and the player. He is a young guy and he can add to his potential every week."

"When Wolves came along I was delighted and I'm more happy than surprised about the move," Nouble said. "I don't know too much about Stale but I'm looking forward to meeting him face to face. For every player, whenever there is a new manager it is a new challenge and I think that's something we are all looking forward to.

"The fans are very strong and the stadium is good with the crowd very close to the pitch so I'm definitely going to enjoy my time here and, hopefully, I can pay back the support that the club has shown me. Scoring goals is my job and I hope I can help the team to get back where it belongs."

Nouble started his career at Chelsea, before moving to West Ham in June 2009. He made his Hammers debut later that season, but has spent spells on loan at West Bromwich, Swindon Town, Swansea City, Barnsley, Charlton and Gillingham in the past three seasons.

Wolves have also confirmed the capture of promising defender Jamie Tank from Walsall for an undisclosed fee.
