Wenger: Giroud deal close

Arsene Wenger has told a French TV station that a deal for Montpellier's Olivier Giroud is "90%" done, with the striker currently at Euro 2012.

Giroud, 25, was top goalscorer in Ligue 1 this season, scoring 21 times, and now looks set to make his way to Emirates Stadium for the new season.

The France forward would be the second player to join the Gunners this summer, with fellow attacker Lukas Podolski already confirmed as an Arsenal player.

Wenger said on French TV station TF1: "Giroud didn't play much (at the Euros so far), but he's going to be an Arsenal player 90 per cent next season. I think he has exceptional potential and will integrate very well in our collective and our way of playing. He is a real team player and knows how to combine with other players and I'm sure he will do well with us.''

"Podolski did a great job for the German team, he has superb team work,'' Wenger added. "He plays in a cautious way sometimes, but he's still scored a very important goal against Denmark for his 100th cap. I am very happy with what I've seen from him.''

Other than Giroud, Wenger could look to resurrect his interest in Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila this week, with Bayern Munich said to be out the running. M'Vila is also in Poland and Ukraine with the national side.
