Tykes close on Mido deal
Championship side Barnsley are close to signing former Ajax and Tottenham striker Mido on a free transfer.
Mido left Egyptian team Zamalek following a pay dispute and will sign a one-year contract, with an option for a further 12 months, at Oakwell.
The 29-year-old will undergo a medical on Thursday afternoon, with Barnsley hopeful of confirming their second signing of a productive week.
The deal would be something of a coup for Tykes manager Keith Hill, who will hope the 29-year-old can rediscover the form he showed during a fine debut season for Spurs in 2005.
The former Egypt international has also played for Middlesbrough, Wigan, West Ham, Gent, Celta Vigo, Marseille and Roma during a much travelled career, but has recently struggled with injuries.
He scored three goals in four matches for Zamalek last season but refused to train after his wages were withheld and eventually ended a third spell at his boyhood club.
