Corinthians reach first final

Corinthians reached the Copa Libertadores final after a 1-1 home draw secured a 2-1 aggregate win over fellow Brazilians Santos.

Danilo cancelled out Neymar's first-half goal to take O Timao to their first ever final in the competition.

Santos had drawn level in the tie when, from Alan Kardec's right-wing crossed, Borges glanced the ball against the post and Neymar followed up to score but Danilo turned home Alex's free-kick early in the second half for his fourth goal of the tournament and, despite throwing on Leo and Elano, Santos could not find another equaliser.

Universidad de Chile and Boca Juniors will contest the second leg of their semi-final on Friday night, with the Argentinians holding a 2-0 first-leg lead, and Danilo is unconcerned by who his side face in the final.

"Boca in Buenos Aires are tough opponents; so are Universidad in Chile," he said. "No matter the opponents, we must win."

Defender Leandro Castan added: "We played good football, with humility. Thank God, we had good form and managed to eliminate Santos. We are very happy for this achievement."
