Silva pledges loyalty to City

Manchester City midfielder David Silva is to stay at Etihad Stadium next season, after his agent played down reports linking the playmaker with Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid.

Silva, 26, was a key member of the Citizens' Premier League title winning squad this campaign and over the past few days has been tipped to make a switch to the Spanish champions as they look for success in the Champions League.

However, the player's agent has been quick to come out and play down talk of a return to Spain, stressing his client's commitment to the Eastlands side.

Julio Llorente is quoted in The Sun as saying: "David has signed a long deal with Manchester City and is very happy at the club. Football is always unpredictable but he wants to stay in England.

"Real Madrid is a big club as well and they were interested when he was at Valencia (the club he left to join City) but the deal was not possible.

'We are ignoring the plans of Real Madrid because he is very integrated at City and winning the Premier League has only increased his commitment to the club."

Silva joined Manchester City from Valencia in 2010 for £24 million and has won both the Premier League and FA Cup titles in his two years at the club. He is currently with the Spain squad at Euro 2012 as they look to repeat their triumph of four years ago.
