Young: England have Euro fever

Ashley Young claims the England squad are buzzing following Friday’s exciting start to Euro 2012.

The tournament kicked off with a bang, with Poland and Greece and Russia and Czech Republic serving up two fine matches.

England have another couple of days to kick their heels before opening up their campaign against France on Monday and Manchester United forward Young is champing at the bit to get started.

“It was a buzz,” Young said of Friday’s games. “When the first couple of games kicked off I got that adrenaline running through my body. I am looking forward to the first game as are everyone else.”

Roy Hodgson has not told the squad who will start against France, but it is not a concern for Young.

“We don't know the team yet,” Young said. “The game is on Monday, whether the manager tells us tonight, tomorrow, it does not really matter. It is up to the manager when he tells us what the team is.”

Both camps have spoken of the importance of the Euro 2012 opener with France and Young claims England will be hunting three points.

“I am feeling confident,” he said. “I am going in on the back of a few goals and assists. We are all confident.

“It is always important to get off to a winning start. It is going to be a tough one, but everybody is looking forward to it.”

Martin Kelly missed training on Saturday on account of a virus, while James Milner is battling with blisters but Young claims the whole camp are fit and ready.

“Milly has got blisters, Martin Kelly had a bad night last night, but everybody is fully fit and ready for Monday’s game.”
