Juve bid for Udinese duo 'advanced'

Udinese sporting director Fabrizio Larini has revealed that negotiations with Juventus are "at an advanced stage" over a joint deal for Kwadwo Asamoah and Marcelo Isla.

Asamoah and Isla, key members of the Udinese side that finished third in Serie A this campaign, have attracted interest from around Europe. However, it appears Juventus have stolen a march on their rivals in the chase for the duo's signatures.

The Udinese official did, though, confirm that no deal has been struck for the pair.

Larini told Gazzetta dello Sport: "The papers can write whatever they want but nothing has been done yet. The only thing that is true is that we have met with Juventus and we have spoken about their interest in our two players.

"Negotiations are at an advanced stage but I reiterate that no agreement has been reached. The figure mentioned by the press does not correspond to the truth."

With interest high, Udinese owner Gianpaolo Pozzo has spoken out to warn potential bidders that the club will not sell their assets on the cheap, dismissing talk of a combined £15 million deal.

"The figure mentioned by the press does not correspond to the truth. Our club is not a supermarket,'' Pozzo told the club's official website.

"Our players are precious and they cost a lot of money. But if there are important offers from big clubs for our players then I imagine it will be difficult for us to keep them.''

Last summer, Udinese sold Alexis Sanchez, Gokhan Inler and Cristian Zapata after finishing fourth in Serie A and qualifying for the Champions League. The departures did not stop the Friuli side improving on that finish this season.
