Gazidis positive on RVP

Arsenal's chief executive, Ivan Gazidis, has revealed the club recently held a "good discussion" with Robin van Persie regarding his future at Emirates Stadium.

Van Persie is nearing the final year of his Arsenal contract and is yet to indicate if he will renew terms with the Gunners. Having picked up the PFA Footballer of the Year award in England the Dutchman is hot property, courted by several major clubs around Europe.

Arsenal's prized asset is particularly admired by Roberto Mancini at Manchester City and has also attracted interest from Juventus. His reputation will grow further if he enjoys an impressive Euro 2012 campaign.

However, Gazidis revealed on Arsenal's official website that he has sat down with Van Persie to discuss his future. An agreement has been reached for neither party to talk about the details of those conversations, but the Arsenal CEO was positive about the outcome.

"Robin sat down with us at the end of the season and we had a good discussion," Gazidis said. "What we agreed at that meeting was that we would keep all the discussions we had over the summer to ourselves and make announcements when it is the right time.

"We have to respect the fact we have agreed to keep that among ourselves. Robin is clearly focused on the Euros at the moment and we wish him well, and at the right time we will make the right announcements. But at the moment we are not saying anything."
