Ghana and Egypt stroll to wins
Ghana ran riot in Kumasi to finish 7-0 winners over Lesotho in a World Cup qualifying match heavily delayed by floodlight failure.
Braces from Dominic Adiyiah and Jordan Ayew, as well as further goals from Sulley Muntari, Christian Atsu and Jerry Adaminko, sent Ghana on their way to a convincing victory against a Lesotho side that finished with 10 men.
The game, though, was sadly delayed for a long period just before the hour mark when floodlight failure stopped the encounter at 4-0. It was eventually restarted with the Black Stars completing their straightforward win.
Two second-half goals in Alexandria gave Egypt a 2-0 win over Mozambique to start their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign on a high, after missing out on this year's Cup of Nations.
Goals from right-back Mahmoud Fathallah and Mohammed Zidan early in the second-period were enough to break Mozambique's stubborn resistance and give the Pharoahs victory in the Group G opener.
The match was played behind closed-doors in the 86,000 seater stadium after the suspension of all football activities in the country following the Port Said violence that rocked the country in February.
