Brest turn to Chauvin

Landry Chauvin has left his position at Nantes to be appointed as the new coach of Ligue 1 club Brest.

Chauvin, 43, opted to terminate his conract with Nantes, which had a year to run, in order to pave the way for his move to Brest, along with his physical trainer Stephane Wiertelak.

He has signed a two-year contract, with an option for a further season, at Stade Francis-Le Ble and will coach in Ligue 1 for the first time.

Chauvin will take over at Brest from Corentin Martins, who served as interim boss following the departure of Alex Dupont in April and secured top-flight survival on the final day of the season.

"The situation reminds me that at Sedan, where, unexpectedly, a club has called me to offer me something wonderful. I can not thank Brest enough for that," Chauvin told his new club's official website.

"Five years ago when I was with Rennes' CFA side, I would not have believed one day I would coach in Ligue 1. It is a tough league, but Brest have always shown their strengths on the pitch.

"You are always learning. A coach is judged primarily on results, but it should also be on the performances of the team, the two go hand in hand.

"I would like to develop a trademark and instil the attacking principles which I have always employed so far, but I know there are no certainties.

"Above all, I live by the phrase 'humble and ambitious', I do not see why both cannot be associated."
