Robben: Bayern boos in the past

Arjen Robben has consigned the boos of Bayern fans during last week's friendly with Netherlands to the past, in order to focus on the European Championship.

Robben, 28, was targeted by his own club's supporters as he represented Holland in a friendly between the two sides last week, just days after missing a penalty in the Champions League final.

The club subsequently apologised for the incident and many supporters came out to back Robben, but others condemned the incident and advised Robben to leave the club.

"I have never had a week like it. To be booed by your own fans is bizarre and that is not easy. But that is football. Sometimes you are the villain, sometimes you are the hero. I am a strong person and can deal with it," Robben told reporters.

During Netherlands friendly defeat to Bulgaria on the weekend, Robben's every touch of the ball was met with load cheers from the Amsterdam crowd. Robben was grateful for the reaction, but is now looking to the summer ahead.

"I want to thank the fans for such a warm welcome," Robben added. It gives you such a good feeling to be welcomed like this by your own fans. What is gone is gone. Now I am with Holland and the focus is on the European Championships.''

Netherlands kick-off their tournament on 9 June against Denmark in Kharkiv.
