Sevilla snap up Lopez from Villarreal
Sevilla have announced the signing of goalkeeper Diego Lopez from recently relegated Villarreal.
Lopez, 30, brings to an end a five-year spell at El Madrigal after the Yellow Submarine suffered a heartbreaking final day demotion from the Primera Division.
The former Real Madrid shot-stopper has agreed a five-year deal with Sevilla, who finished in a disappointing ninth place in La Liga this season.
"It's all been very quick. I'm very happy and looking forward to wearing the Sevilla shirt and trying to help them continue being a big club," Diego Lopez told Sevilla's official wesbite.
"It's a big club for lots of things, for their fans, for what you feel when you go to play there. You always feel a little bit of envy when you experience that from outside, and now I'm very excited to be able to live it from the inside."
Lopez, who has been capped once before by Spain, joined Villarreal from Real Madrid in 2007 after seeing his path to the Bernabeu No. 1 jersey firmly blocked by club captain Iker Casillas.
