Barca deny rift report

Barcelona have strongly denied a report in El Mundo on Wednesday claiming Pep Guardiola left the club as a result of a poor relationship with president Sandro Rosell.

• Alves to miss Copa del Rey final

The story in El Mundo, a Madrid-based tabloid, claimed Guardiola had only learned of Tito Vilanova's appointment during the press conference to confirm his departure and that he had also threatened to speak out against Rosell.

Barca have confirmed on their official website that they will take legal action against the newspaper for what Rosell has described as an "invented" story.

A lengthy statement on underlined Barcelona's "outrage" at the article and said "appropriate legal action" would be taken "to obtain compensation for the damage caused".
