Cabaye 'sorry' over Cahill red

Newcastle United's Yohan Cabaye issued an apology on Sunday night for his role in the post-match dispute that saw Everton's Tim Cahill see red after the final whistle.

Cabaye, 26, enraged Cahill upon the game's completion, with the Australian international sent-off for grabbing the France midfielder by the throat.

The former-Lille player received a booking for his part in the incident, but once tempers had cooled, was quick to come out and apologise for his role in the incident.

In a statement, Cabaye said: "I would like to apologise for the cross words I exchanged with Tim Cahill. It was unnecessary, and, regrettably, the result of frustration and disappointment. (It was) all in the heat of the moment. It is out of character and for that I am sorry.

"We have had a fantastic season and already I look forward to next season. Everton manager boss David Moyes said: "He says he was called something by Cabaye. I don't know what happened after that."
