Mancini: I'll build a City dynasty

Sir Alex Ferguson insists nobody should get carried away with theories of a Premier League power shift if Manchester City claim the title on Sunday, but Roberto Mancini believes rather differently as he eyes a sustained period of success at Eastlands.

City prepare to welcome QPR to Eastlands, knowing an 18th home win of the campaign would - barring a miracle - secure the club's first top-flight title in 44 years. Only an eight-goal turnaround by United, who visit Sunderland, could halt that scenario.

Ferguson has seen it all before, notably when Chelsea began to achieve success under Jose Mourinho and also when Arsene Wenger built his "Invincibles" team at Arsenal. Each time it was predicted that the power had shifted away from United, but each time Ferguson grabbed it back.

The Scot predicts he can do the same this time but Mancini points to his spell of success at Inter Milan, whom he put back on top of the Italian game. The City boss warned United that Premier League agony might just be the start for the Red Devils, as the blue half of Manchester aims to take over.

"The players will have changed history," Mancini said in the Sun. "Winning this title would be my best ever.

"I won Inter their first title for 20 years. We began with the Italian Cup, then we continued for four years - seven trophies. Could I repeat that here? Maybe we can do better."

Mancini will reportedly hand skipper Vincent Kompany a new five-year deal worth £120,000 a week if the Belgian lifts the Premier League crown on Sunday. Eden Hazard may also be on his way to bolster City ranks after he tweeted that he had only two games left at Lille, but for now Mancini is only focused on three very important points.

"This championship is the most difficult, so if we win it would be the very best for me. To fight with United is not easy because they have won for 20 years."
