Fergie eyes 'something stupid' at City

Sir Alex Ferguson is looking for "something stupid" to happen to Manchester City against Queens Park Rangers, to hand his side a chance of snatching the title.

Fergie looks to QPR to pull off title shock

City are ahead on goal difference and in all probability a win over QPR will secure Roberto Mancini's men the title.

United face a trip to Sunderland and Ferguson will impress upon his players the need to get the job done at the Stadium of Light, to hand them a chance of picking up the pieces should City slip up.

Ferguson said: "Everyone wants to win their last game of the season and we're no different. It's important for us, we'll try and do our best and win the match and hopefully something stupid will happen to City."

Ferguson is aware of the size of the task facing QPR, as he compares their clash with City with the one the Aberdeen side he managed 29 years ago had against Real Madrid. The Dons famously toppled the Spanish giants for European Cup Winners' Cup glory.

He said: "Do you know what happened 29 years ago today? I took an Aberdeen team to beat Real Madrid in a European final. 11 players, home bred and the oldest player was 27. That is Queens Park Rangers' challenge, to do an Aberdeen.

"The odds are stacked against them. City are in good form, at home. On the face of it you expect City to win, but as long as humans are humans you hope something stupid to happen."
