Trejo looking for miracle win

Sporting Gijon striker Oscar Trejo believes his side need a ''miracle'' if they are to avoid relegation from the Primera Division on the last day of the season.

Second-bottom Sporting are the team most in danger of following in Racing Santander's footsteps and falling into the Segunda Division as they lie three points behind Real Zaragoza and Rayo Vallecano.

However, Villarreal and Granada are also not yet safe, and if Sporting win their final match against Malaga, they could still beat the drop if both Rayo and Zaragoza lose theirs courtesy of their better record in matches between the three sides this season.

''No one has the mentality of losing, but our future does not depend on us,'' Trejo told AS ahead of the final game of the season. ''We will go out to win and hope for the miracle.''

However, Trejo is not expecting an easy passage from Malaga, who need a win to seal fourth place for Champions League qualifying.

''They'll go out and try to complicate our lives and find the goal, but we must try to hold on, concentrate and be 100%,'' Trejo said.

Trejo's team-mate Adrian Colunga admitted he will be keeping an eye on the other games,

''We have to try to win, but obviously I'll be watching what happens in the other games,'' the striker said. ''But there are many combinations so everyone should worry about himself.''

Elsewhere, Zaragoza coach Manolo Jimenez is relying on strong support from fans as his side makes the must-win trip to Getafe.

''Getafe are not going to give anything away,'' Jimenez said. ''The most important thing is to control our anxiety. Luckily, thousands of Zaragocistas will travel with us and will support us until the last minute. This will help us fight the fear that every professional has to fail.''

Meanwhile, Rayo defender Mikel Labaka is confident his side can beat Granada in their final game of the season to push themselves past the safety line.

''We are looking forward to Sunday's game,'' Labaka said. ''We're footballers and we have to face any situation.

''I understand that there is some uneasiness but you should know that we were able to win very difficult games to get to be at 40 points. We are more than qualified to take the game forward and win, and psychologically we must be strong.''

At the other end of the table, champions Real Madrid host Mallorca while Barcelona play Real Betis on Saturday. Also playing on Saturday are third-placed Valencia who take on a Real Sociedad side which is just above the relegation battle.

Atletico Madrid will play their final domestic fixture after they lifted the Europa League Cup following their 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday.

Atletico take on Villarreal, with a win giving them the chance to overtake Malaga into fourth place and a UEFA Champions League qualifying spot should Malaga lose their game.

Sixth-placed Levante, who host beaten finalists Bilbao, could also snatch fourth at the death depending on other results, although Mallorca and Osasuna are still in with a shout of filling the Europa League qualification spots.

Racing, who have already been relegated, play Osasuna in Sunday's other game.
