Podolski looking to win titles

New Arsenal signing Lukas Podolski says he joined the club primarily to try to win Premier League titles.

• Podolski deal confirmed

Germany international Podolski completed his transfer to Emirates Stadium earlier in the week, but will only join up with his new team-mates after the European Championship.

For now, the 26-year-old is focused on helping his current side Cologne avoid relegation from the Bundesliga, but he is looking forward to trying to win more than one title with the Gunners once he reaches England.

"The goal has to be to win titles over the next years. That's a given when you go to a big club," Podolski said. "The English league is very good and competitive and every year six or seven clubs are challenging. Hence it's a chance and a great motivation to make another step forward.

"Arsenal have an awesome manager and a great stadium."

While full of praise for Wenger, Podolski revealed that he is yet to actually meet the Frenchman in person. "We spoke on the telephone just once - I have not met him yet," he said.
