Werder Bremen goalkeeper Tim Wiese says Real Madrid want to sign him as an understudy for club captain Iker Casillas, though he has not yet decided where he will play next season.
Wiese, 30, has spent his entire career in Germany and has played for Werder since 2005, but the club announced last month that he would be leaving when his contract expires this summer.
The Germany international, who is behind Manuel Neuer in the pecking order for his country, has indicated his desire to move abroad and it appears Real Madrid could make that dream a reality.
"There is some truth in that Real Madrid want to sign me,'' Wiese told the Kreiszeitung. "There was contact between the club and my agent.
"Several factors come into play before making a decision, such as the family. I have to think about everything carefully. The option is to play in the big leagues.''
Real may have some competition for Wiese, who has also been linked with Italian giants AC Milan, Inter and Juventus as well as Premier League outfit Tottenham.
Casillas does not have a lot of competition for the Real No. 1 jersey, with Antonio Adan having made just three appearances since his promotion to the first team in 2009.
