Kompany: Title race not over

Vincent Kompany said he was "absolutely buzzing" after his goal gave Manchester City victory over Manchester United but insists the title race is not yet over.

Kompany headed home on the stroke of half-time to give City a 1-0 derby victory and go top of the table on goal difference with two games of the season remaining.

Asked how he was feeling, Kompany told Sky Sports: "Absolutely buzzing. I don't think we've got a word for it.

"We've been waiting for it. It's far from over and we know that, but to give our fans two wins over United this season... we have to finish it off and we have to do it over the next two games.

"Someone texted me today and said he thought I was going to score the goal, and I thought he was a lunatic!

"For us to get this result, we wanted it so bad. It all comes down to the dream we had when we were children, and we all want it so much."

Roberto Mancini warned that City cannot afford to drop points against Champions League hopefuls Newcastle in their next game and insists United remain the title favourites.

"We are happy but next Sunday we have another very difficult game," Mancini said. "We deserved to win, we had chances, we played well, we had chances to score a second goal. They had no chances to score. It was difficult, though, because United are a top team... It stayed risky until the end.

"It's important we play a good game against Newcastle because [United] play an easy game against Swansea. For now we are top of the league but United have a light advantage."
