Hodgson poised for England job

ESPNsoccernet understands Roy Hodgson will meet with the Football Association on Monday ahead of agreeing a contract as the new England manager.

• Hodgson in England talks
• Hodgson No.1 choice for England
• Hodgson in frame to replace Capello

The FA revealed on Sunday evening that it had been granted permission by West Bromwich Albion to hold talks with their boss Hodgson.

England are currently without a permanent manager after Fabio Capello's departure in February, with Stuart Pearce placed in temporary charge ahead of Euro 2012.

It was widely believed Tottenham's Harry Redknapp was the favourite to be named as Capello's successor, but, as previously reported on ESPNsoccernet, Hodgson is the FA's first-choice candidate due to his international experience.

The 64-year-old, who has managed the likes of Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and Finland, could be confirmed as the new England manager as early as within the next 24 hours.

A contract that will take him through to at least the 2014 World Cup in Brazil is likely to be in the offing, with Hodgson's current terms at West Brom due to expire this summer.
