Noonan strike rescues Galaxy

The Los Angeles Galaxy's erratic start to the MLS season continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Dallas.

A 90th minute goal from Pat Noonan earned the Galaxy a draw after Brek Shea's 61st-minute penalty had threatened to win the contest for the visitors.

Thierry Henry's seventh minute goal gave the New York Red Bulls a 1-0 victory over the New England Revolution, while Lee Young-Pyo's 74th minute effort earned the Vancouver Whitecaps a win at the Columbus Crew by the same margin.

Chivas USA were no match for the Colorado Rapids, who won 4-0 with goals from substitute Kamani Hill, Tony Cascio and Jeff Larentowitcz - three of them coming in the last eight minutes.

Substitute Steven Lenhart's second goal of the night, in the final minute, gave the San Jose Earthquakes a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union which moves them to the top of the Western Conference. Gabriel Gomez netted for the hosts seven minutes from time.

Real Salt Lake stayed second with a late goal of their own, substitute Jonny Steele's 90th-minute effort giving them a 3-2 win over Toronto. Eric Avila and sub Doneil Henry had twice brought Toronto back level after they had fallen behind to a Kyle Beckerman effort and a Richard Eckersley own goal.

The Seattle Sounders, with games in hand, continue to impress. David Estrada and Eddie Johnson got the goals which gave them a 2-1 win at the Chicago Fire, whose consolation goal was an 89th minute effort from sub Marco Pappa.

DC United moved second in the Eastern Conference, six points behind runaway leaders Kansas City, with a 3-2 win over the Houston Dynamo. Maicon Santos scored twice and Chris Pontius got the other, with Will Bruin twice bringing the Dynamo level in the second half.

Goals inside the last 14 minutes from Bernardo Corradi and sub Sinisa Ubiparipovic gave the Montreal Impact a 2-0 win over the struggling Portland Timbers.
