Belhanda sends Montpellier clear at top

Younes Belhanda scored the only goal as Montpellier maintained their push for the Ligue 1 title with a narrow 1-0 win at Toulouse.

Olivier Giroud also missed a second-half penalty for the visitors, but it did little to affect the final outcome as TFC failed to take advantage.

The win takes Montpellier five points clear at the top of the table, although nearest challengers Paris St Germain have a game in hand.

Marseille's extraordinary Ligue 1 slump continued as Lorient strengthened their survival hopes with a 2-1 victory at the Stade du Moustoir.

Arnold Mvuemba set the hosts on their way with a penalty shortly before half-time and Kevin Monnet-Pacquet made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute.

Mathieu Valbuena pulled one back for the Coupe de la Ligue winners in the 76th minute but they remain without a victory in the league since January.
