Fenerbahce drop CAS appeal

Fenerbahce have announced they have dropped their case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport against UEFA and the Turkish Football Federation following their expulsion from this season's Champions League.

• CAS to hear Fenerbahce case

Fener were thrown out of the competition due to their alleged involvement in a match-fixing scandal in Turkey that saw more than 30 players and officials jailed pending an outcome in the ongoing trial, including Fener chairman Aziz Yildirim.

They lodged an appeal with CAS for the €45 million (£36.7 million) they say they were owed in lost revenue.

However, on Thursday they said they had "renounced" the case without providing any further explanation.
