Two-time A-League championship-winning coach Ange Postecoglou has quit the Brisbane Roar.
He will leave the back-to-back A-League champions effective immediately and is set to take over as the new Melbourne Victory head coach.
The new Roar coach will be announced on Wednesday.
It means Postecoglou will not oversee the Roar's two final Asian Champions League group games, starting on Tuesday in Japan against FC Tokyo.
The announcement came just hours after he had addressed thousands of fans in Brisbane's CBD following a ticker-tape parade for the Roar's championship-winning team.
Brisbane supporters held a glimmer of hope Postecoglou would remain after he told the crowd on Tuesday: "Why not, let's make it three".
If the Roar do make history and complete a three-peat of titles, it will be without Postecoglou who knocked back a $6 million, four-year deal.
