Kansas City's perfect start to the Major League Soccer season ended with a 1-0 defeat at the lowly Portland Timbers.

After winning their opening seven fixtures, the Eastern Conference leaders were undone by a Chance Myers own goal on 41 minutes.
The San Jose Earthquakes moved ahead of Real Salt Lake at the top of the Western Conference with a 3-1 win over their nine-man rivals.
Despite their two-man advantage the Earthquakes only sealed the win in injury time thanks to goals from Simon Dawkins and Chris Wondolowski.
Real had Edgar Espindola dismissed on 29 minutes and while the Earthquakes forged ahead through Khari Stephenson (45) the visitors levelled thanks to Kyle Beckerman (53).
Real's task got harder though when Jamilson Olave was also red-carded on 69 minutes.
Toronto FC are still waiting for their first point of the new season after they were beaten 3-2 at home by the Chicago Fire.
The Canadian side slumped to their sixth successive defeat despite leading 2-1 just before half-time. Reggie Lambe struck twice on 37 and 40 minutes to fire Toronto ahead after Dominic Oduro's first-minute opener.
But they held onto their advantage for just a minute as Gonzalo Segares immediately levelled before Patrick Nyarko inflicted yet another defeat with 58 minutes gone.
The Los Angeles Galaxy won 2-1 at the Colorado Rapids with Marvell Wynne's 21st-minute own goal followed by a Landon Donovan strike on 39 minutes. Omar Cummings replied for the Rapids on 63 minutes.
Eddie Gaven's second-half double (63, 74) helped the Columbus Crew to a 2-2 draw with Houston Dynamo, who netted through Will Bruin (59) and Brian Ching (81).
