Gill expects busy summer at United

Manchester United director of football David Gill believes it could be a busy summer at the club, despite the Red Devils heading towards a possible 20th league title.

• No deal done for Pogba - Agent
• Fabio set for loan move
• Fabio linked with Gaitan deal

United hold a five-point advantage over rivals Manchester City with just four games to play, but have several first-team players who are linked with a departure from the club this summer.

Speaking to the club's official website, Gill firstly spoke of the mixed emotions a close title-race provokes for those involved, before acknowledging that he may be in for a busy summer himself:

"It's been an amazing run and it's going to be a tense end to the season. If we do it, it will be fantastic. This time of year's not good. You do get tense but we've done very well and are in good shape now - five points ahead with four games to go. It's going to be tight but it's been wonderful.

"We're looking at all that. The work goes on all year round but obviously intensifies as we come to the end of the season in terms of players. There's various contracts we've got to do, we'll look at some acquisitions and there will be some players who will leave. It's an interesting time."

Amongst those touted to leave the club this summer are strikers Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen, with Sir Alex Ferguson also confirming this week that young full-back Fabio da Silva will head out on-loan for the 2012/13 campaign.

Another priority remains renewing the contract of youth team prospect Paul Pogba, who has been heavily rumoured to be close to joining Italian giants Juventus. Manchester United though remain confident of retaining the young Frenchman, despite the Italian club's interest.
