Reddy's Sydney FC hearing delayed

Liam Reddy's latest disciplinary hearing with Sydney FC has been delayed until Thursday as the goalkeeper's future at the A-League club dangles by a thread.

Reddy had been due to front Sydney officials on Tuesday over allegations of serious misconduct after the club last week upgraded his charge over being drunk on a team flight.

But the Sky Blues have agreed to give Reddy more time after the Easter weekend prevented the 30-year-old from seeking advice and preparing for the hearing.

Reddy admitted he was intoxicated on a flight to New Zealand for the A-League club's sudden-death final against Wellington last week before the club charged him with breaking the FFA's player code of conduct.

However, after more details of the incident later came to Sydney officials' attention, they opted to discontinue those proceedings and charge Reddy with breaching his standard player contract.

The more serious charge means Reddy could face a stiffer penalty and possibly be sacked by the club, whereas Sydney could only fine the shotstopper half a week's wages or ban him for a further game for breaching the code of conduct.

It has been reported Reddy consumed alcohol both before and on the flight and vomited on the plane and on the team bus to the hotel in Wellington.

Reddy was sent home by Sydney officials before the clash against the Phoenix, which Sydney lost 3-2 to end their season.

He spent much of the back end of the season on the bench, after being deposed by Ivan Necevski as Sydney's first-choice goalkeeper.

Even if Reddy is not sacked, it is thought he may be allowed to shop around for a fifth A-League club to play for - having previously represented Newcastle, Brisbane and Wellington - despite having a year left on his contract.
