Bisevac targets win over rivals

Paris St Germain defender Milan Bisevac is relishing his first experience of the heated Ligue 1 derby clash against Marseille on Sunday.

Bisevac, 28, joined PSG from Valenciennes last summer and will use his experience of Serbian derbies as Carlo Ancelotti's side look to put pressure on league leaders Montpellier.

"I've already played in these types of matches when I played for Red Star Belgrade when we took on our arch-rivals Partizan,'' he told ligue1.com.

"El Clasico is a special match, the most important match of the year for the supporters, and very, very important for us too!

"We need to win this weekend to launch us back on the winning track for the final seven games of the season and the race for the title.''

Despite out-spending almost every team in Europe last summer following investment from new owners, the Qatar Investment Authority, the Parisians find themselves second in the table and a 2-1 defeat at Nancy last weekend makes their task of securing a first league title in 18 years even more difficult.

Serbia international Bisevac has urged his team-mates not to get hung up on the result as they face a stern test against Marseille this weekend.

He said: "Even if we lost against Nancy, I think we probably deserved to win. We need to move on quickly because we have eight finals to play until the end of the season and we all have the one aim: win the championship.

"OM remain a very good side. Even though they are struggling a little, anything can happen in this type of match.''

Montpellier could have opened up a three-point gap by the time PSG kick-off as they face Sochaux at Stade de la Mosson on Saturday.

Ligue 1 top goalscorer Olivier Giroud will be looking to add to his tally in the match to take Montpellier a step closer towards securing an unexpected league title, and rumours of a summer transfer will not be affecting him.

He said: "When I arrived (at Montpellier) I had to replace Victor-Hugo Montano who was top scorer the previous year.

"I did better than him and in the second season I really wanted to impress and do better. That's what I'm doing and I hope to stay top of the scoring standings until the end of the season.

"I can't let it (transfer gossip) trouble me. I want to carry on being good with Montpellier and keep producing what I've done since the start of the season, and take the club where it should be, into the Champions league or even higher.''

Sochaux are currently 19th but victory over Brest last weekend means a point could be good enough to see them out of the relegation zone.

Brest face current champions Lille with that defeat against Sochaux their fourth in a row, and will want a positive result against Rudi Garcia's third-placed side.

Lyon are in fourth place but sit six points behind Lille, who occupy the final Champions League berth, and it now looks as though Les Gones will be fighting it out with Toulouse for the Europa League spot.

Bottom side Auxerre travel to Lyon on Saturday while Toulouse face a tougher test away at 12th-placed Valenciennes.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Ajaccio host St Etienne, Dijon play Nancy and Evian face Rennes.

Sunday's other matches see relegation-threatened Caen host Bordeaux while Nice face Lorient with neither side's top flight status yet to be secured for next season.
