Youngsters sign new Lyon deals

Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette has been rewarded for a fine breakthrough season with a new contract until 2016.

The 20-year-old has established himself among Remi Garde's attacking options this season, making 32 appearances in all competitions and scoring eight goals.

He netted a brace against Lorient to see OL into the Coupe de la Ligue final and his efforts have yielded a two-year extension to his existing deal.

Also on Friday, France Under-19 defender Samuel Umtiti has signed his first professional contract at the Stade Gerland, committing the 18-year-old to the club until 2015.

The deals represent a move by Lyon to secure the long-term futures of two of their brightest talents before they attract too many admiring glances from potential suitors.
