Heynckes keeps focus

Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes insists he is taking nothing for granted despite recording a 2-0 away victory at Marseille.

• Marseille 0-2 Bayern Munich

Bayern took control of their Champions League quarter-final with goals from Mario Gomez and Arjen Robben, but Heynckes will not allow his players' thoughts to drift to a likely semi-final meeting with Real Madrid.

"We achieved our aim by winning the first leg without conceding a goal," he said. "There is another match to do and another 90 minutes to play, so I'm not going to discuss the semi-final or our potential opponents. I know football too well, and have too much respect for Marseille, to do that."

Heynckes said he was unhappy with the number of bookings his team received, with Bastian Schweinsteiger now ruled out of the second leg.

"I'm glad we won the game, although much less happy about the five yellow cards we received, and especially Schweinsteiger's," he said. "It was a pointless card."

Franck Ribery was given a hostile reception on his return to the Stade Velodrome, and Heynckes added: "Franck Ribery was very motivated. He played well in a difficult atmosphere. People forget very quickly in football - they turn on things they once loved."

Marseille boss Didier Deschamps accepts his side now have little hope of reaching the semi-finals.

"Obviously, it will be very complicated after losing 0-2," he said. "It's something I was already aware of, but there are many qualities in this Bayern team. They do a lot of things very well and their attacking strength is impressive.

"We did some things well, but the goal just before half-time hurt us because they had not created many opportunities to that point. That's something the great things can do, even if they have little ammunition to do so."
