Smeltz gunning for Glory

Shane Smeltz bagged all four goals as Perth Glory twice came from behind to defeat Melbourne Victory 4-2 in the A-League on Saturday.

Victory went ahead in the 22nd minute through Carlos Hernandez but Glory responded within a minute as Smeltz bagged his first of the match.

Mark Milligan restored Victory's lead with a goal on the stroke of half-time but again the hosts were swift to hit back as New Zealand international Smeltz struck again within three minutes of the restart.

Smeltz completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute before sealing the win with his fourth of the match three minutes later.

The win means Glory strengthen their grip on third place in the standings and now trail leaders Central Coast Mariners by five points, albeit having played a game more.

Victory stay third-bottom after their 10th defeat of the campaign.
