Malaga boost top-four hopes

Malaga remain fifth in the table but are now level on points with fourth-placed Levante after coming from behind to beat Rayo Vallecano 4-2 on Thursday night.

Diego Da Silva Costa put Rayo in front after five minutes from the penalty spot, but the home side stormed back with two goals from Rondon either side of the break and a 70th minute effort from Enzo Maresca.

Roberto Trashorras scored a second penalty for Rayo in the 84th minute to threaten a grandstand finish, but Duda grabbed Malaga's fourth two minutes later to seal the win.

Manu scored twice as Sevilla returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory that increased Racing Santander's relegation worries.

Sevilla came into the match on the back of two straight Primera Division defeats, but went in front in the first half thanks to Jesus Navas' opportunist strike.

Manu's low shot doubled their lead early in the second half and from then on the hosts never seriously looked like mounting a fightback as their winless run grew to ten games.

Their misery deepened when Papakouli Diop was sent off 11 minutes from time, and Manu's second in stoppage time completed a night to forget for the hosts.

Walter Pandiani struck a stunning equaliser in stoppage time to extend Real Betis' winless streak to five games as they drew 1-1 with Espanyol.

After a poor first half, Ruben Castro had headed the hosts in front from Michael Pereira's cross with 18 minutes remaining.

Didac Vila looked to have wasted the chance to get Espanyol back into the game as he stabbed a great chance wide with three minutes remaining but, just as when these two met in October, Pandiani came off the bench to make a telling contribution as he took advantage of some slack Betis defending to volley home from just inside the area.
