Wenger optimistic over Wilshere

Arsene Wenger claims Arsenal are no longer concerned by Jack Wilshere's injured ankle, but he is refusing to set a date for the midfielder's return.

• London duo yet to approach Del Piero • Vertonghen admits Arsenal interest

Wilshere, 20, has been a huge miss for Arsenal, as he has not kicked a ball in the Premier League this season after damaging his ankle last summer.

It has been slow progress in his recovery from injury, but the latest scan has handed Wilshere the green light to step things up and it is now a case of the England international working on his fitness.

"It is difficult to set a deadline on Jack," Wenger said. "We go week by week with him. But his last scan was very good so we don't have worry anymore.

"It is about progress and fitness, however I can't set a date."
