Al Gharafa sack Metsu

French coach Bruno Metsu has been fired by Qatari club Al Gharafa.

The club announced the decision to sack Metsu on their official website, with the club seventh in the Qatar Stars League. He will be succeeded by former Brazil midfielder Paulo Silas, who was sacked by Al Arabi in January.

Metsu steered Senegal to the quarter-finals of the 2002 World Cup, a run which included a win over holders France in the opening game of the tournament.

He had previously served as coach of the Qatar national side between 2008 and 2011.
