Beckenbauer believes in Fink

Hamburg are too good to go down with Thorsten Fink in charge, according to Germany's double World Cup winner Franz Beckenbauer.

The northern Germany side have suffered a slump lately after Fink initially steadied the ship following his arrival last October.

But despite not winning in their last four games to drop to just four points above the relegation zone, Beckenbauer says they will not lose their Bundesliga status while Fink is in charge.

"I can guarantee that Hamburg will not be relegated with Thorsten Fink,'' he said. "Thorsten is a warrior and he is one who always faces up to the pressure and never needs any excuses. He will get his team tuned in for their important matches.''

Hamburg face a tricky relegation battle against Freiburg on Saturday knowing that defeat would take see them drop to within two points of the relegation zone, but the Kaiser expects them to beat a side who have recently upset the top three of Bayern Munich, Schalke and Borussia Monchengladbach.

"Despite their many injuries and suspensions, I expect Hamburg to win,'' Beckenbauer told the Bild newspaper. "They must not underestimate Freiburg, though. They have been playing well for weeks.''

Beckenbauer was Fink's coach for five years at Bayern Munich and the pair won four Bundesliga titles together.
