Ranieri delighted after victory

Inter Milan are a happier club after ending their seven-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over Chievo on Friday night.

• Chievo 0-2 Inter Milan

It had not looked as though it would end that way with three minutes left, but goals from Walter Samuel and Diego Milito ensured some of the pressure on manager Claudio Ranieri was eased - and his relief was there for all to see in his celebrations on the touchline.

"What does it mean? It means that it matters to me," he told Sky Italia afterwards. "I am happy for the lads because they were playing really well. They deserved it after a month without a win and with everything we have been forced to swallow.

"I had a great satisfaction for them. Emotion is the most beautiful thing. I feel emotions for this job, both positive and negative, but to tell the truth, positive ones are better."

Inter are now charged with looking to turn around a Champions League deficit against Marseille, and Ranieri is confident Friday's win will help their cause.

"This result is for morale," he added. "It's a big breath of oxygen and I hope that on Tuesday against Marseille the San Siro will be full and the fans will be urging us on. It won't be an easy game, but we have a chance. Let's try and see what we can manage to do with our fans behind us."

Club president Massimo Moratti was present at Friday's match, and Ranieri added of him: "He was happy like the rest of us and came and congratulated us. The president has always given his full support. I have an excellent rapport with him and therefore I will continue to work and ensure the team comes back even more."
