Ranieri has Moratti's 'complete support'

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has pledged to stand by Claudio Ranieri and praised the under-fire manager for his professionalism amid speculation the club is searching for a new boss.

The Nerazzurri have failed to record a single victory in their past nine games, and needed late goals from Diego Forlan and Diego Milito to avoid a sixth successive defeat against Catania last Sunday.

The blame has been placed squarely on Ranieri by Inter fans and the Italian media, but Moratti - who has fired managers for less in the past - has pledged his "complete support" to the former Chelsea and Juventus boss.

"It's not easy for a coach to read in the papers every day that there's a new coach coming in to replace him, when in actual fact no contact has been made with any other coach," Moratti told Sky Sport24.

"He's professional, he's getting on with his job, and he has my complete support in this difficult time that he's experiencing and that we're trying to get through this."

Inter take on Chievo on Friday night, desperate to get back to winning ways ahead of next week's Champions League last-16 second leg against Marseille.
