Rovers weigh up Zenden swoop

Blackburn are in talks over the possibility of bringing former Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool midfielder Boudewijn Zenden to Ewood Park.

Zenden, 35, has been a free agent since he left Sunderland at the end of last season, but Rovers manager Steve Kean wants to capitalise on the 35-year-old's plentiful experience as he looks to steer his side away from relegation danger.

Comfortable in the centre of midfield or wide on the left, the former Netherlands international has played in a Champions League final while at Liverpool, and was singled out by manager Rafa Benitez as an example of professionalism for the rest of the squad to follow.

It is that attitude and wealth of knowledge that Kean wants to tap into, although he admits Blackburn are not Zenden's only pursuers.

"He wanted to understand where we wanted him to play, but he's got a wealth of experience and if you look at our squad, it's one of the youngest in the Premier League," Kean said on Friday.

"Bolo brings a lot of experience, we've lost some experience in the last couple of transfers. If we can get him in, that'd be great. He's got a lot of offers, but we hope he will consider ours and we hope he will [sign] moving forward."
