Coyle: We should thrive on pressure

Bolton manager Owen Coyle believes his players should enjoy the pressure of playing in this weekend's "huge" relegation six-pointer against Queens Park Rangers.

• Preview: Bolton v QPR

The Trotters host QPR at the Reebok Stadium knowing that a win can lift them above their opponents and out of the Premier League relegation zone.

Bolton have gone five games without a win but the Rs are on a much worse run having only claimed three points once in their past 18 matches.

Coyle senses a great opportunity to take the spoils on Saturday and says he hopes his players will use the pressure of the occasion to inspire them to victory.

"There's no getting away from it, when two teams at the wrong end of the table are playing each other at this stage of the season, it is a huge game," Coyle said.

"Is there pressure to win it? Of course there is. But that's what we are in football for. You have to have that mentality to want to win games for the supporters who pay good money to come and watch you week-in, week-out.

"We need to go and replicate the performances of Liverpool and Arsenal at the Reebok. We have six home games and it's important we capitalise on them. Everyone has to bring their best - me, the players and the fans.

"Is it really pressure to go out and play football in front of your own fans? I think that should be an enjoyable pressure if it is. You want to show people you can perform, you want to show everyone what it means that you want to be in the best league in the world.

"I suppose it is a proverbial six pointer because we know what's involved. But we have to make sure we just focus on what we can do. QPR`have good players and a fantastic manager, they invested heavily in January, but we know we are capable of winning these games."
