Gibbs: Pride gives us hope

Kieran Gibbs insists Arsenal's desire to "get a sense of pride back" will provide the impetus they need for Tuesday night's Champions League tie against AC Milan.

Four goals down after the first leg in Italy, Arsenal have been given little chance of making the last eight. But Gibbs is refusing to give up hope.

"It gives us a great opportunity to get a sense of pride back," Gibbs said. "You don't like to accept getting beaten 4-0 in the Champions League.

"You just have to turn up - if you don't on the night and don't have the best performance and also no luck, then you have no chance. As a player, you can't really say why you don't turn up to a game. I think mentally we were ready.

"To be honest, they scored a very good first goal. It was a fantastic goal by Boateng and this can set you back. Maybe, tactically, we decided not to play as much as we'd like to.

"We have to believe, otherwise there is no point in being here. If they can beat us 4-0, then why can't we do the same? In our last home game, we scored five goals. We have to create a faultless performance and get a good balance between attack and defence."
